Ron and Carol enjoy being surrounded by friends and family during the holidays! As a tradition, each year they take a photo of all of the cousins on the stairs and by the tree.

From helping “Poppy” decorate the tree to opening gifts with “Mema”, endless and memorable fun is always to be had at The Young household. If it isn’t too cold, they break out their favorite pastime wagon to play with.

Visit Dickes’ Village at Macy’s Center City
A favorite family tradition for The Bergson-Shilcocks and their cousins to take the train downtown to watch the holiday lightshow, visit Dickens’ Village, and sit on Santa’s lap. A tradition for more than a decade, Emily’s children and their cousins have taken this trip with the dads while she gathers with her sibilings to wrap gifts at her sisters. It’s a highlight of their holiday season! For more information visit https://www.visitmacysusa.com/article/visit-dickens-village-macys-center-city
Volunteering and giving back to the community
Emily and Chris are always looking for ways to engage our children in meaningful work and to give back to our community. The holidays are a great time to refocus on what’s most important and to set an intention for the coming year. The Bergson-Shilcock’s volunteer regularly at Mattie Dixon Cupboard in Ambler and also at Cradles to Crayons. Becoming an angel family for the holidays also gives their children the opportunity to plan and shop for gifts for others in the community. Churches, the YMCA, and many local organizations have lists of families who are in need of assistance this holiday season.

Quality time with family
Christmas is Lauren‘s favorite time of year. She loves quality family time more than anything. Picking out a Christmas tree, baking and decorating cookies, seeing a light show, candle light Christmas Eve service and taking the kids to see Santa are some of her favorite holiday traditions. After all the excitement of the holiday season is over, an unexpected snow day with school closed is like an belated holiday gift!

Stag and Doe in Chestnut Hill
In recent years, Sam and Olivia made their holiday tradition to visit Chestnut Hill for Stag and Doe Nights. Stag and Doe is a great way to get in the holiday spirit by strolling along Germantown Avenue to shop for Christmas gifts at the boutiques, ride in a horse-drawn carriage, enjoy the sounds of carolers and brass quartets, meet and greet Santa and indulge in roasted chestnuts, treats, and seasonal sips. They especially love dinner at El Poquito. Stag and Doe is each Wednesday in December. To learn more visit their Facebook Event Page. Olivia also spends the holidays in her hometown, York PA, with her family and beloved cat.
